Not since high school ended have I traveled anywhere with more than one other person—that person primarily being George. (Poor sap.) So, it’s been a few years (FINE, DECADES, OKAY?) and I am super excited. (I also need to try to set aside my championship belt of Most Annoying Traveler Ever…lest George’s entire family descend on me and throw me in the River Liffey.)
We’ve got a lot of coordinating to do before we can turn this prezzie into reality, but foooortunately that’s my favorite part. If you think I don’t have a snazzy little Microsoft Word situation happening, full of maps, hotel deets, and lists of the greatest pubs in Dublin, well, my friend, you do not know me but at all. (Which is maybe for the best. This PDF is a little intense.)
I’m personally excited to dig into literary Dublin, the home of Joyce, Wilde, and Stoker et al. But I’m most excited to experience a different type of traveling. And I don’t just mean in terms of traveling with fam. I am a super shy traveler—I hang back, timidly walking around and just try to blend in. I don’t ask questions. I’m just sort of…quiet. And for that, I’m sure I’ve missed a lot throughout my travels.
But George’s family? George’s family is anything but shy. They have a way of making friends with everyone they meet, with putting people at ease instantly, and with never taking themselves too seriously. These are great lessons and traits to pick up from them in general, but I’m pretty excited to be a part of it on the road.
But first, back to my Word doc. Stay tuned!
